How To Get Rid Of Dandruff Dandruff is a warning sign when it
comes to the health of hair. It is actually the small bits of dead
skin peeling away from the scalp. It happens because of
propagation of bacteria and/or problems with seborrhoeic scalp
conditions. People usually think that dandruff occurs only in dry
scalp, but it occurs in oily scalp also. Usually, dandruff is not
visible to the naked eyes in its early stages of growth. It
becomes visible when the problem deteriorates and bigger pieces of
dead skin start to peel away from the scalp. Prolonged suffering
from dandruff may result in dandruff ailment. It can lead to
eczema if it worsens.
It is necessary to suppress propagation of bacteria in the scalp,
as it is one of the main causes of dandruff. Shampooing regularly
helps in preventing bacterial propagation. Medicated shampoos for
dandruff removal are available in the market. However, those
having dry scalps should avoid daily shampooing, as it can lead to
eczema. Shampooing once every three days may be safer for such
persons. Remember that using only one brand of shampoo causes
build-up that leads to dandruff. Use two shampoos alternatively to
have better results.
There are several things that you can do to prevent dandruff. One
easy way is to apply a mixture of 8 table spoons peanut oil and
the juice of half a lemon. Leave it on your hair for 10 minutes
and then wash normally. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic that
you can use to deal with dandruff. Add 3 drops of it to a small
amount of shampoo while washing your hair. Rinsing hair with a
solution of 1/4 c. vinegar and 1 qt. water can also give benefits.
Mixture of the herbs chaparral or thyme works well as a hair
rinse.
You also need to take care of your diet to deal with dandruff
effectively. At least 50 percent of your diet should be raw food.
Cut down on the intake of fried food, sugar, nuts, chocolate and
other dairy products. Add fish oil, primrose oil or flaxseed oil
to your diet. Your diet should also include vitamin B complex,
vitamin E, selenium and zinc supplements. However, make sure that
you do not exceed 100mg of zinc a day. Take vitamin C,
bioflavonoid complex, lecithin granules or capsules for positive
result.
Some people suffer from dandruff for a prolonged time and it
becomes a hard-to-cure problem. They should consult a skin
specialist for treatment.
